Annual General Meeting
The NCCS held its 51st Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 8 May 2025 at 4pm at The Chapel for All Peoples in St Andrew’s Cathedral.  59 representatives and alternates attended to deal with a wide range of business which included the election of Executive Committee members for 2025-2027 and passing the NCCS Budget for 2025.

Reflecting on his term as President, Bishop Lu noted that NCCS celebrated its Golden Jubilee 50th Anniversary last year and that S$83,190 had been raised in 2024 for the ETHOS Institute and New Life Story.  Bishop Lu gave thanks for the opportunities to serve and his ministry experiences, including witnessing the swearing in of the Prime Minister and leading a delegation to visit the leadership of the Church in China.  Links to Bishop Lu’s address and reports on the China visit can be found below.

New President, Bishop Philip Lim said after the AGM that, “Personally I am not the type that aspires for such high position.  I accepted it because I was told the president is elected from among the heads of the five Founder Churches.  My hope going forward is that we can reach out to more churches who are still not part of NCCS yet.  Also, to continue working with Love Singapore, APCCS, the Catholic Church and others.

The new Executive Committee now has a woman – Lutheran member, Ms Lanny Widjaja, who had a sterling career in banking coupled with a deep devotion to Christian service.

Visit to the Church in China
A delegation from the National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS), led by Bishop Lu Guan Hoe, visited China from 23–29 April 2025 at the invitation of the National Committee of Three-Self Patriotic Movement of the Protestant Churches in China and the China Christian Council.  This was the first visit since the Covid-19 pandemic, aimed at renewing longstanding ties.

The delegation visited Shanghai, Nanjing, and Beijing, learning about the gradual recovery of worship and ongoing ministry of churches in China, which serve around 38 million Protestant Christians.  The visit was marked by mutual encouragement and an invitation was extended to NCCS counterparts of the Church in China to visit Singapore to continue ongoing partnership and friendship.
