[Introduction message by Rt Rev Dr Caleb Soo, Vice-President NCCS]

NCCS team visits MUIS. NCCS President, Bishop Philip Lim and colleagues visited Dr Nazirudin Mohd Nasir, the Mufti of Singapore at the Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) on 16 April.  They were warmly welcomed by Dr Nazirudin and his colleagues, Mr Muhammad Nasir Johari and Mr Azree Rahim.  The visit served as a meaningful gesture of appreciation for the enduring friendship between the two religious organisations against the backdrop of the Hari Raya festive season.

·       The occasion went beyond festive greetings, reaffirming both parties’ shared commitment to social harmony in Singapore, recalling active collaborative-projects in the past such as the Building Bridges Seminar in 2013. The visit underscored a collective resolve to continue working hand in hand, ensuring that the values of empathy and togetherness remain at the heart of Singapore’s multicultural society.

·       The NCCS team included members of Ethos Institute: Dr Roland Chia, Rev Dr Edmund Fong, Dr Leow Theng Huat and Rev Dr Jeremy-Joe Tan as well as Rev Dr Ngoei Foong Nghian, General Secretary and NCCS staff members, Mr Eden Liew and Ms Shalynn Siow.

·       Both communities acknowledged that they are living in particularly challenging times, in which complex issues affect not only their respective members but also society at large in profound ways.

·       In response, they agreed to collaborate on organising seminars and conferences to address these shared concerns from the perspectives of their respective faith traditions.  They further affirmed that such dialogue and collaboration not only foster deeper mutual understanding but also contribute meaningfully to the common good.   PHOTOS

St Luke’s Hospital (SLH) is responding actively to the needs of a rapidly ageing population in Singapore.  Churches play an important role on the frontlines of community life, journeying closely with seniors and their families, alongside healthcare providers who contribute clinical expertise and compassionate care.  There is strong potential in bringing these strengths together—not only to support physical health, but also to nurture emotional and spiritual well-being.

·       SLH remains committed to strengthening and deepening partnerships, particularly among churches in the western region of Singapore in the years ahead, working together towards building healthier and more resilient communities. We encourage your church to discover multiple partnership opportunities with SLH.  For more information, click HERE
