Dear Members and Friends of NCCS,
Blessed to Be a Blessing
Every National Day, we count God’s grace upon Singapore with grateful hearts. From a small island nation lacking resources to a stable, prosperous, and harmonious multicultural society today, we believe this is not merely the result of human effort, but the work of God’s providence. “The Most High rules in the kingdom of men.” (Daniel 4:17)
However, the Bible reveals that when God blesses a nation, it is never solely for that nation itself. When God called Abraham, He said, “I will bless you… and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:2–3) Therefore, the purpose of being blessed is not possession, but sharing; not self-satisfaction, but mission.
Singapore has received grace and also bears responsibility. Situated at the heart of Asia, with its multicultural society, global connections, and stable environment, it should be a witness of peace, justice, and compassion. The church should not only pray for the nation, but also actively engage in social care, nurture the next generation, promote respect among different races and religions, and bring the gospel and hope of Christ to the community and the nations.
As we celebrate the nation’s blessings, may we once again respond to God’s call: replacing pride with gratitude, comfort with service, and responding to grace with mission, so that Singapore may not only be a blessed nation, but also become a vessel that blesses the nations and glorifies God.
