[Introduction message by Bp Philip Lim , President NCCS]

2026 Lenten Devotional:  In a world that feels increasingly fractured, marked by division, conflict, and uncertainty, it can be all too easy for our focus to drift from Christ. The noise of daily life often overwhelms the still, small voice calling us back to what matters most. The season of Lent invites us to pause, reflect, and return to the heart of the Gospel: Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who laid down His life for us. It is a time to remember His humility, His sacrifice, and His unfailing love—a love that restores and reconciles even the most broken of places.

The theme of the 2026 Lenten devotional, Behold the Lamb—Following Christ in a Fractured World, calls us to fix our eyes on Jesus and to walk faithfully in His steps, bringing His hope, peace, and light into the brokenness around us. The Bioethics Advisory Committee (BAC), Singapore, is pleased to share its latest report titled ‘Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues Arising from Human Nuclear Genome Editing’.  The report examines key ethical considerations arising from the use of Human Nuclear Genome Editing (HNGE) technologies in biomedical research, clinical research, and healthcare. It reflects the outcome of extensive study, consultations with local and international experts, and careful deliberation by the committee. The report is available on the BAC website HERE.

  • NCCS was invited to respond to the report.  The Executive Summary of the NCCS Response can be found in pages 168 – 169.  Here is the LINK.

National Family Festival (NFF): The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) invites churches and Christian organisations to explore partnership opportunities for the 2026 National Family Festival.  Co-led by MSF and Families for Life, this month-long national celebration aims to strengthen family bonds across Singapore. The festival will be launched at a flagship event on 30 May 2026 at Singapore EXPO.  There are a few ways of collaboration:

  • Join us for the NFF Preview Day on 29 May 2026 together with other Families for Life partners. You and your colleagues/network may enjoy access to the NFF activities before the public access days on 30 May and 31 May 2026.
  • Organise family events or initiatives, such as family outings, celebrations or activities during the period of May to July 2026. We invite you to co-brand these family events and initiatives in support of NFF. We can provide you with resources and publicity support from Families for Life.

Congratulations to Evangelical Free Church of Singapore (EFCS) as it celebrates its 65th Anniversary this year, marking a legacy of faithfulness that has grown from a small pioneer movement in 1961 to a network today of 11 member churches reaching about 9,000 worshippers weekly. This milestone coincides with a transformative shift in regional missions: the evolution of the Evangelical Free Church (“EFC”) All Asia grouping into the Evangelical Free Church Asia Pacific Alliance(“the Alliance”). The EFCS and its regional alliance partners are laying the foundation for a new era of cross-border collaboration for missional impact in the world.  The transition follows the historic induction of the EFC of Australia on 4 November 2025, joining founding members, the EFCs of Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Reflecting Singapore’s strategic influence in the region, EFCS Chairman, Rev. Tony Yeo, was elected as the inaugural Chairman of the Alliance. EFCS is a full member (ie, denominational member) of NCCS and Rev Yeo is a member of the Executive Committee.

The General Committee issued a statement on 27 October 2025 to clarify its position in response to open letters and criticisms of the NCCS via emails, website postings and YouTube videos. After the official statement was shared with churches, the Council was contacted by the Assemblies of God Singapore (AOG) on 30 October regarding paragraph 5 of the statement. In the interest of accuracy and transparency, the Council amended paragraph 5 accordingly, based on the information from the Assemblies of God Singapore. See the original and revised statements LINK

The Chinese Work Committee of the NCCS founder denominations is organizing a play performance at the Capitol Theatre on 17 and 18 April: “越风雨,见证辽阔” (“The Unsent..”).  This play tells the true story of a Christian, who overcomes a painful past to help prison inmates, only to discover her own father was among them, ultimately finding strength in faith and family. It is a testament that through life’s storms, love guides one to witness immense hope and healing.   More information at this LINK
