[Introduction message by Abp Titus Chung, Vice-President NCCS]

Church leaders visit St Luke’s Hospital (SLH)  In a step towards strengthening the partnership between healthcare and the faith community, SLH hosted representatives of NCCS Executive Committee and member churches/organisations on 20 March.  The 14-member team was led by Bp Philip Lim for this visit.  The team included representatives from City Harvest Church, Community of Praise Baptist Church, King of Glory Church, Koinonia Inclusion Network, Lutheran Church in Singapore, Prison Fellowship Singapore, and St Thomas Orthodox Syrian Cathedral.

The visit began with a warm welcome by St Luke’s CEO A/Prof Tan Boon Yeow and team.  The visitors were given a guided tour of the hospital’s facilities.  The tour provided a tangible look at the specialised care SLH provides and offered opportunities for informal conversations with staff and therapists.  Following the tour, a thorough briefing was given on the evolving role in Singapore’s healthcare landscape.  This ecosystem spans inpatient care, outpatient services, home care, and community-based programmes.  A key highlight was the health challenges posed by our ageing community.  This set the stage for a robust dialogue where church leaders candidly shared the challenges they face in promoting health and active ageing within their own congregations.  The session concluded with a fruitful discussion on potential areas for collaboration.  The conversation centred on how St Luke’s Hospital can better support churches—particularly those in the western region—in caring for their members.  PHOTOS

Six Principals of Theological Schools  in Singapore were hosted to fellowship lunch by the NCCS on 24 March.  These theological schools represent a wide spectrum of Christian traditions and they support our churches by training and equipping pastors and ministry staff for Singapore and overseas.  We are indeed blessed by the collaboration of their competent faculty members who are a rich resource for our churches.  The fellowship lunch was hosted by Bishop Philip Lim, Rt Rev Dr Caleb Soo, Archdeacon Rev Daniel Wee and Rev Dr Ngoei Foong Nghian  PHOTO

Annual Church Life Survey  We would like to invite your church to participate in a survey on the State of the Church (SOTC) in Singapore.  The SOTC studies began in 2022 as a collaboration between Biblical Graduate School of Theology (BGST), Singapore Bible College (SBC), Trinity Theological College (TTC), and Salt&Light.  Three other studies on Churches were conducted previously: Attracting Young Adults (2023), The Church and Seniors (2024) and The Church and Children (2025).

  • This year’s study is a major effort to conduct longitudinal research.  Every church’s senior pastor (or equivalent) is invited to participate on an annual basis.  The questions cover a range of indicators of church life (e.g. attendance numbers, age demography, salvation decisions, missions work, giving).
  • We welcome your participation at this  LINK

Threat-Oriented Person Screening Integrated System (TOPSIS) was initially used at border checkpoints to detect criminal activity.  Since 2018, TOPSIS has been rolled out across a variety of organisations in Singapore, including religious institutions, to detect people who may have a malicious intent to carry out terrorist or criminal activity.

  • TOPSIS works with existing organisational structures.  No special technology is required.  Several denominations and churches have already implemented it.  Skills training is conducted by police specialists with the Centre for Protective Security.
  • NCCS is facilitating an introductory session for churches that wish to implement TOPSIS.  Please send an email to the NCCS Office to register your interest at  [email protected]
